Himmel über Charkiw

A German stage, a Ukrainian war, and a question that will not go away.

Drawn from Serhiy Zhadan’s book and the Facebook posts he wrote after 24 February 2022, this staged reading does not try to reproduce the Ukrainian experience. It asks about empathy and representation, and whether another’s experience can truly be understood.

My role

I directed the reading and adapted Zhadan’s material. During rehearsals I added scenes drawn from real conversations with the actors.
